All lists posted in the old forum have already been counted, please only vote here if you haven't voted already.
You can post a list of anywhere between 5 and 20 films (or more, but only 20 will be counted) from the year we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the RYM list and the top 10 of each year will go on to the final top 100 round. The deadline is February 26th.
The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50 points
2. 40
3. 35
4. 30
5. 25
6. 20
7. 18
8. 16
9. 14
10. 12
11. 10
10. 9
...
20. 1
However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.
Here are some lists to remind you of the great (and awful) films released in 1971, from a variety of sources:

Sunday is the deadline, huh?
1. McCabe and Mrs Miller
2. Walkabout
3. Clockwork Orange
4. Harold & Maude
5. And Now For Something Completely Different (1)
I have Minnie and Moskowitz on VHS and Death In Venice from Netflix. If I can only watch one before the deadline, which do you recommend? (Is anybody else going to vote for M&M?)
Harold & Maude is another one of those movies I really, really should have seen as a teenager.

Re: Films of the '70s: 1971
Glad you liked Walkabout.
Re: Films of the '70s: 1971
This is my worst year in terms of the number of films I can list, because I only had time to watch one more film and I had only watched 4 to begin with. Thus, a shameful top 5.
1. A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick)
2. Harold and Maude (Hal Ashby)
3. The Last Picture Show (Peter Bogdanovich)
4. Dirty Harry (Don Siegel) - 20
5. Duel (Steven Spielberg) - 16

Re: Films of the '70s: 1971
Total domination this year by the man who has a shot at the #1 of the decade, with more than twice the points of the #2: Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. The film received points from every voter, 35 or more in all but one case, and an incredible 7 first places.
#. Title (Director) - Points/Votes/#1s
1. A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick) - 544/13/7
2. McCabe & Mrs. Miller (Robert Altman) - 238/7/2

4. Harold and Maude (Hal Ashby) - 213/7/1
5. Duel (Steven Spielberg) - 168/8/0
6. Straw Dogs (Sam Peckinpah) - 155/7/0
7. The French Connection (William Friedkin) - 130/7/0

9. Trafic (Jacques Tati) - 79/4/0
10. Morta a Venezia [Death in Venice] (Luchino Visconti) - 75/3/1
And after two years, both Altman and Roeg already have two films through to the next round
