In anticipation of Space Jam 2, I ask this forum to build its own dream team, 10 players composed of a starting five and reserves.
Let me start by listing my team:
Starters:
PG (point guard) - Gary Payton
SG (shooting guard) - Michael Jordan
SF (small forward) - Scottie Pippen
PF (power forward) - Dennis Rodman
C (center) - Bill Russell
Reserves
PG - Chris Paul
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - LeBron James
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Hakeem Olajuwon
Jordan, Pippen and Rodman in the starting five since it has been proven that they work incredibly well together.
Payton is the only guard who won defensive player of the year and is a 9-time First Team All-NBA Defensive player.
Russell is the epitome of a defensive center, no matter how offensively great Wilt Chamberlain was, Russell was there to stop him.
The reserves are, except for Point God Chris Paul, proven champions.
Yes, I prefer defense over offense. This might be the team with the stingiest defense.
What's yours?

Re: Your All-Time NBA Team vs. Mine
My bench PG and C had better careers than the starters there, but Shaq was so dominant at his peak, but I like having the greatest shooter of all time in a lineup like this.
Starters:
PG - Stephen Curry
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - LeBron James
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Shaquille O'Neal
Reserves:
PG - Magic Johnson
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Larry Bird
PF - Kevin Durant
C - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Re: Your All-Time NBA Team vs. Mine
Very solid team, imagine Curry in a Jordan team - a Paxson or Kerr in acid. I could argue that my Rodman and Olajuwon had some success slowing down a young Shaq but LA-era Shaq was almost unstoppable inside the paint. With Curry, Lebron and Duncan happy to share the ball, Jordan and Shaq would easily get their numbers. The second team is also filled with elite scorers, except arguably for Magic who is probably fine distributing the ball. It's also impressive that all your players are champions.
It'll probably be a great game of contrasts between your showtime team vs. my down and dirty team.
Re: Your All-Time NBA Team vs. Mine
I do like that you showed some love to Paul. These kinds of NBA discussions focus so much on championships (of course, I picked all champions). He has to be the best player ever to not reach a Finals, and I don't think there would be much of a dropoff with him in my lineup.
It could be better to go with more specialists instead of so many volume scorers, but I figured these guys are all champions who could figure out how to share.
