106. Garbage - Supervixen: 5
I like Garbage's debut album, but I don't feel that this opener quite reveals their strengths. It is a hard rocker, but somehow completely misses the hard punch mixed with melodic qualities that the best songs of the album have. Also, Shirley Manson's vocals aren't mixed in here that well and she is a big part of the band's appeal.

And therefore, how likely would it be to slip in if I were to update the list? I dunno. For now, it's an 8.

The next song ranks at #7074. It is also only the second time we come across a song nominated by this user, whose taste I generally like:

108. Bob Dylan – To Ramona
Year: 1964
Album: Another Side of Bob Dylan
Biggest Fan: Rob (#47)

Bob Dylan – To Ramona: 10

Well, it is my #47, so this grade was to be expected. My first 10 in this game in fact.
This is Dylan in a rare mode: earnest and comforting. Here he shows great sympathy for another person, something that for all Dylan's greatness, is usually lacking in his work. Sure, he empathizes deeply with political victims and sometimes makes grand statements of love, but although this Ramona is another sort-of lover, the appreciation is very grounded. Basically he delivers a rather deep analysis of what is troubling Ramona and gives equally deep commentary of why she shouldn't be bothered by it, even though knowing that whatever he says probably won't make a difference. It's filled with great lines and if I thought writing reviews equals quoting lyrics I would have my work cut out for me here.
What's more important to me is that I can somewhat relate to the Ramona character, whose ambivalent relations to the people in her crowd seem familiar to me (it could even be that Dylan is singing about himself in a roundabout third person way). Equally important is how warm Dylan's singing is here. I don't think there is a single song in his extensive discography were he is so plain like-able. He doesn't seem to want to be liked most of the time and that is part of the appeal, but I'm glad there is one song by my favorite artist were for a few minutes he feels like he is a close friend.

105. Radiohead - Numbers 7/10

A lot of later Radiohead stuff leaves me cold. That's why I was surprised that this track was so good.

106. Garbage - Supervixen 9/10

Great opener. Love the stop/start. Always liked it and thought this should have been released as a single. Garbage by name - not by nature.

107. Adele - Hometown Glory 3/10

I find her vocals unusually grating on this cut.

108. Bob Dylan - To Ramona 4/10

Never been a fan of folk. The same applies here.

109. Art Blakey & Jazz Messengers – Blues March for Europe No. 1 4/10

Not a fan of Jazz either. I've tried - I used to work in a record where we specialised in Jazz, Easy Listening etc. but yeah - it didn't rub off.

110. 5th Dimension - Wedding Bell Blues. 4/10

More of a fan of their psychedelic stuff. When I head this track it sounds like jazz-rock a-la 'Chicago'. I was surprised to find a lot of sites describe it as a 'soul' song. I suppose it's a bit of both.

The next song ranks at #6823 at Acclaimed Music. However that position is for Blues March/ Blues March for Europe No. 1. Since the nominator specifically went for the Europe one that is the one I post here:

109. Art Blakey & Jazz Messengers – Blues March for Europe No. 1
Year: 1959
Album: Au Club St. Germain, Vol. 2
Biggest Fan: Nicolas (#602)

None of the jazz tracks that have popped up here have gone wrong with me yet. This is another great one. Amazing drumming in particular. I believe it is somewhat unusual for a jazz group to be lead by the drummer, but here it is easy to understand why. The title promises a march and, yes, that is what we get too, before the soloing starts.

Good enough on it's own, but as someone who is very familiar with Laura Nyro's original I completely miss any point in this. This is as straightforward a cover as you can get, almost indistinguishable from the original. Marilyn McCoo has a good voice and can't be faulted here, but the only mayor difference is that Nyro has a bit more variety in her voice.

So I haven't still shown the top 100. Time is not on my side, but most of the work is done. Yet, Thursday I'm travelling abroad for work until Monday, so that is not a timing for a roll-out. Here's what I do, Saturday May 4th I will start revealing the ranking of the top 100 and will probably do the complete thing in the weekend. That gives everyone who wants still some time to catch up, fill in gaps in their rating in their games or change their votes (please notify me if you do the latter; I've noticed some people simply changing their old posts without a word, but that makes things trick). So there's a deadline for me and you: no changes or votes after Friday May 3 will be counted for this roll-out (though they will for later ones).

Also: The Kinks - Lavender Hill: 7
Didn't know the song, but this is the classic Kinks sound that I like.

105. Radiohead – The Numbers
Even in the Radiohead songs that I had completely forgotten, there is still this magic and incredible writing quality. And my god, this bass is good. 8.5/10

106. Garbage - Supervixen
A hit a little forgotten. "Garbage" was never my kiff, but this one's not bad. 6/10

107. Adele – Hometown Glory
I can't get hooked on this song. 4.5/10

108. Bob Dylan – To Ramona
That's good, I forgot my dentist appointment. 2/10

109. Art Blakey & Jazz Messengers – Blues March for Europe No. 1
The kind of jazz I can listen to along the way. Nice discovery. 6.5/10

110. The 5th Dimension – Wedding Bell Blues
It's sweet beyond the unimaginable but it still works just as well on me! 6.5/10

111. The Kinks – Lavender Hill
Just like Kinks. The class. But all the versions I've been looking for seemed a little too slow to me, I would have slightly increased the listening speed. 7/10

112. The Human League – The Sound of the Crowds
Yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy! Excellent melody! 8/10

Human League - Sound Of The Crowd: 6

Human League know how to make some bouncy music, which is fine with me.

It’s been a while since we have a song that isn’t on Spotify, but sadly that’s the case today:

113. Red House Painters – Revelation Big Sur
Year: 1996
Album: Songs for a Blue Guitar
Biggest Fan: Damosuzuki (#166)
The song on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqNiTK5a-q8

Don’t forget you can always vote for earlier songs or change your vote!

Maybe if I get myself to focus more on the words, which I'm sure are the main draw here, I would rate it higher, but somehow Kozelek - at least here - doesn't sing in a way that pulls me into the lyrics.

Definitely not the sort of song I’d have expected you to like!

I’d give it a 7. It’s a solid song, but I always felt like Dare! was a really back-loaded album (“Seconds” and “Love Action” are an 8 and 8.5 respectively, and “Don’t You Want Me” is one hell of a 10).

105. Radiohead – The Numbers - 8
Really like the coincidence of a Radiohead song showing up soon after Radio Head. Also, I really like this song.

106. Garbage - Supervixen - 8
You know that stop-start thing the music does? I really like it and don't know why.

107. Adele – Hometown Glory - 5
108. Bob Dylan – To Ramona - 7
109. Art Blakey & Jazz Messengers – Blues March for Europe No. 1 - 6
110. The 5th Dimension – Wedding Bell Blues - 5
111. The Kinks – Lavender Hill - 5
112. The Human League – The Sound of the Crowd - 6
113. Red House Painters – Revelation Big Sur - 6
