Unacclaimed VI: Heats, Week 11

Post by Bang Jan »

The way this game works is that you will be given two sets of four songs, your job is to rank each of the sets from best to worst. First place gets 4 points, second gets 3 etc.

The song with the most points in each set will advance to the semi-finals. If there is a tie for points, then the song with more first place votes will advance. If they are tied on first place votes as well, there will be a sudden death tiebreak. Also the six highest scoring non-winners in the heat stage (based off point per voter and then percentage of first place votes) will also advance to the semi-finals.

Feel free to ask any questions, deadline is next Wednesday at 15:00 UTC.

HAWKS GROUP
Ween-Ocean Man (USA)
Buddy Holly-Modern Don Juan (USA)
Snail Mail-Thinning (USA)
Jorge Ben-Forca Bruta (BRA)

LANG GROUP
Wallace Collection-Merry-Go-Round (BEL)
Dave Richmond-Movin Along (UK)
Ludus-The Escape Artist (UK)
Helena Deland-A Stone is a Stone (CAN)

Of the Disney/Nick triad with "So Yesterday" and "I Found a Way", I think "Ocean Man" has the best chance at advancing.

Wow! Today, one of the greatest teenage songs in the era of Rock and Roll after "So Yesterday" by Hilary Duff and "I Found a Way" by Drake Bell (when you removed "Bell" in the surname, it is not to be confused with Rap artist, Drake), "Ocean Man" by Ween, will be meet together with "Modern Don Juan" by Buddy Holly in Howard Hawks Group. I have no comment in Fritz Lang Group.

All four are good, but they have to go in some order. Ocean Man may be obvious but it's a great nostalgic track for me, as a relative youngster.

FRITZ LANG GROUP
Helena Deland | A Stone Is A Stone
Wallace Collection | Merry-Go-Round
Dave Richmond | Movin' Along
Ludus | The Escape Artist

Conversely this was a weak group. Only really enjoyed Helena Deland.

I do like Ocean Man - I only found out about this one recently when I was researching songs that my kids can listen to and enjoy (and that I wouldn't dislike as a parent) :D
