This group seems to extend a wider net than just jazz. Also jazz influenced pop and jazz-related genres from the 40s and 50s. And Latin rock.

1. Miles Davis
2. John Coltrane
3. Charles Mingus
4. Nina Simone
5. Santana

This category is too stacked and should have been split up. Also, no Pharoah Sanders?

Peculiar decision on groupings here. I can't remember how Slick chose the larger pool of artists to go into these preliminary rounds so I'll reserve judgment on the decisions leading to this group... but I'm most upset about no Ella Fitzgerald. And that I didn't get to vote for Morphine and Soul Coughing in the 90's alt rock genre.

1. Louis Armstrong
2. Duke Ellington
3. John Coltrane
4. Thelonious Monk
5. Billie Holiday

Slick - I think that you are doing a marvelous job.

I suggest that every time someone takes a poke at your genre selections you remember the very ironic expression: "No good deed goes unpunished"

Keep up the great work!!!

Henry, you're absolutely right... Looking back at my comments, I realize they were unnecessarily churlish (READ: dickish). Slick, you've been doing a great job, and many thanks for putting this all together.

Thanks. I expected a few comments, ultimately there is no way to line these genres up to please everyone. I would be disappointed if I did not catch a little flac. I am just glad people are enjoying this.
