Site Update

Post by jdizzle83 »

Hi,

Just curious if we know when the newest update to the site will be. Really curious how EOD lists and the new RS 500 will affect the aggregate list. Thanks!

That's great to read! Thank you for all your hard work. A site update would really be one of the big bright spots in this rather cursed year.

If you don’t mind me asking what lists are being added? Obviously 2018, 2019 EOY and 2010s EOD but what else is going in? (Obviously even those alone are amazing, but curious if others are as well)

I mean seeing as how complex the program is I doubt I could make any predictions based on the lists themselves!

I would like to see the lists of songs by genre, but I know all this could be more pressure for Henrik so I just want to be cool and ready for everything. I love AM and you'll too!

The only list I have added, beyond the 2018 and 2019 end of year lists and the 2010s decade lists, is Rolling Stone’s new all-time albums list.

I wrote some more info here:

That's great news! I've been trying to catch up on a lot of classics that I've never given a chance, and an updated AM list will be helpful in this effort :music-rockon:

Update: I have made a lot of progress and still have hopes for November, but if so it will be at the end of the month. I’m away on a (covid-customed) course next week.

I recently saw a New Songs Info - 2019 update spreadsheet that was interesting to peruse as we wait for the Next Update.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone would also share an analogous spreadsheet for New Albums Info.

Not to be selfish but is there anyway to throw pitchfork update to their 80s album list in there?

Sorry that message didn’t appear the way I thought it would.

So just to be sure it doesn’t get lost!

Henrik, not to be selfish but is there anyway that the updated list from Pitchfork of the best albums of the 1980s could be thrown into the new update? It would be awesome to see! But I get if you can’t!

When was the Pitchfork update to the 80s album list as I can’t find it anywhere?

Are you going to include decade-end lists for the 2010s, that can change a lot

This is just a feeling on my part, but I have a sense that if the update was going to be delayed further Henrik would let us know. Again, I could be wrong.

I'm not gonna push anything. I'm already preoccupied enough with trying to pick entries for Rob's playlist.

I would just like to say thanks to everyone involved with creating this site especially Henrik.
It has been my bible for discovering new music and creating many playlists on my iTunes themed around years and genres.
My top 500 albums playlist is definitely the most played with me hunting down the best versions of each album according to the Steve Hoffman site, I also have a crate of vinyl with at least half the top 500 albums in it.
I was at my sons surf Comp the last time the update dropped and couldn’t wait to get back home and update my playlist’s so I’m eagerly awaiting the next update.
Many thanks again, our family’s music tastes have been shaped by your site.

+1 on the thanks, I don't contribute to the forum as regularly as I once did but I use the site religiously – ever since I was a mid-2000s teen (29 now).

It's an essential hub for falling down wormholes, updating horizons, as well as simply idling hours away getting stuck into great music.

Can't wait to see what the refreshed update brings, very exciting that it's so close. Immense respect and gratitude for all the effort put into this site, then and now. Salute
