Re: UMT 2012: Round of 128 #2
The Who and Billy Joel are two very similar artists for me as weird as that sounds. I've listened to the majority of the albums for both, I don't love any of them, and really can't stand a few yet they both have 10-15 songs that I really like. I chose Joel because I like his just a little more.
Also, I've said it before, Tom Petty is probably the most underrated artist ever when it comes to critical acclaim. He just was playing the right songs at the wrong times. His two peaks are when classic rock just wasn't looked upon fondly (late 70's and early to mid 90's)

Just wondering, are previous results important for people during the current vote? I read this justification once in a while. I think it's curious.Nassim wrote: The Smashing Pumpkins (I discovered Tom Petty through the moderately acclaimed poll and I didn't find any appeal in it + it beat a personal favorite + I like the Pumpkins)

I saw Springsteen live last week, he really is an incredible showman.
If we're judging John Lennon exclusively on his solo work I have to vote against him.
The thing about Tom Petty is, he's great a crafting pop songs, but he sings like he's on valium.

Re: UMT 2012: Round of 128 #2
Well, Here the real reason is that I found his album boring while I like many songs by the Pumpkins.Gillingham wrote:Just wondering, are previous results important for people during the current vote? However, on a match-up too close to make a real choice, I sometimes end up picking the winner through silly reasons!
