Not really that shocking. They have pretty decent acclaim from the critics.JimmyJazz wrote: 350| Hall & Oates (!)
These results are hilarious. Keep 'em coming, JimmyJazz!

I haven't exactly listened to a soundtrack of his yet so I didn't. Great scorer, though.prosecutorgodot wrote:#5 Joe Hisaishi (I'm surprised babydoll didn't put him down, maybe lower on his list?)
Indeed, I've heard comparisons between ABBA and Hall & Oates, in that with the context shedded away, people just enjoy the music now.Henrik wrote:JimmyJazz, thanks for a great presentation so far! However I have to say, are the exclamation marks really necessary? (And what's so wrong about Hall & Oates?)
I feel the pain. I don't really like them, but I thought they'd be top 200 for sure.Live in Phoenix wrote:Sex Pistols at #354. Is there some other group called the Sex Pistols?
That is the most surprising placing for me too.Live in Phoenix wrote:I like a couple Hall & Oates songs. I Can’t Go for That, and Out of Touch.
Sex Pistols at #354. Is there some other group called the Sex Pistols?

Perhaps we should see what the list looks like divided among those who didn't and did vote for Nickelback? You know, like we did with Stairway to Heaven a few years back?
I think one notable feature of our artists poll is, for whatever reason, they generally allow entrants with a single vote. Compare this to the song poll, where even a #1 vote would only reach the sub-1000 range. This is likely due to the size of individual lists; going from 100 to 500 is a giant leap, especially compared to 500 to 1000. As such, the lower depths aren't really a consensus, but rather a strange mix of our odd favorites. In other words: don't take these lower placements too seriously. I imagine the difference in score is minuscule.
The Chemical Brothers being so low is disappointing. I guess we still don't have many electronic fans if they struggle to place.

Sex Pistols never usually do all that well on these polls. Personally speaking, I find numerous other punk bands more compelling, so others probably feel the same way.babydoll wrote:I feel the pain. Agreed, although I'm not really in a position to complain as I did not include them myself.babydoll wrote:I feel the pain. I don't really like them, but I thought they'd be top 200 for sure.Live in Phoenix wrote:Sex Pistols at #354. Is there some other group called the Sex Pistols?
Will probably end up coming tomorrow, babydoll. There, I saved it!babydoll wrote:So, JimmyJazz, are you going to begin the top 100 tonight or begin tomorrow? Please answer ASAP to save my refresh button. LOL.
Got a good laugh out of this. I voted for one of these, and another casualty of my non-updated list was that I placed them far too high.Dexter wrote:491. Imagine Dragons, 472. Creed, 454. #361. Terribly sorry, I don't know how I overlooked it.babydoll wrote:Sonic Youth is a for sure. Now I'm really concerned that Green Day made into the top 100, though. And I'm pretty positive Run-DMC has already appeared.
I mean...I'm all for genre diversity. But not if it means Linkin Park, Maroon 5, and Nickelback. Not like this...Dexter wrote:491. Imagine Dragons, 472. Creed, 454. Nickelback, 446. Otis would have been in the top 100 if I HADN'T FORGOTTEN THE BASTARD! (I hate myself a lot right now.)Listyguy wrote:I was pretty bummed out about Big Star and Robert Johnson being so low...and then I saw where Otis and Sly ended up...
