1. Yes
2. The Who
3. Bruce Springsteen
4. Boston
5. Rush

Blue Oyster Cult would be next up. Huge variations in quality in this category. I would have put the Who under 60s pop, but I guess it depends on what period you prefer from them.

Seriously though, Yes' run on The Yes Album/Fragile/Close to the Edge is so underrated by critics. I definitely see why some wouldn't like that style, but it's the best prog I've heard outside of King Crimson.

AOR...A = Arena, R = Rock, O = ?

I guess if it were Arena Rock U2 would be here. What does AOR stand for? I see a lot of arena rock bands but no U2 and a lot of cinematic conceptual bands but no Pink Floyd, and otherwise spread throughout well known rock bands from 1960s to 1980s.

1. Bruce Springsteen (CONCERT TICKETS MARCH!)
2. The Who
3. Fleetwood Mac
4. Yes
5. Cheap Trick

It stands for "album oriented rock". Pink Floyd and U2 would probably fit in here just fine, but my guess is that Slick saved them for other genres.

I prefer Yes to King Crimson, but otherwise I agree with you completely. Back in the early 1970's there was a genre called "classical rock" which included EL&P and Yes and others.

1. The Who
2. Yes
3. Bruce Springsteen
4. Journey
5. Fleetwood Mac

1. Heart
2. John Cougar Mellencamp (does this mean we don't consider his songs as "Johnny Cougar" or "John Mellencamp" :)
3. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
4. REO Speedwagon
5. Night Ranger

Full disclosure: gaming the system a bit - naturally Bruce deserves a slot, but I figure he'll probably squeak in ;) and I didn't want one of my favorite (and mostly forgotten) 80s hair bands to go without a vote.
