Baritone vs. Tenor

Post by mat.bez.lima »

Pop male singers
since of 1960 are
almost always
tenors. Frankly, I
feel a lack of the
unique and beautiful
barítono voices and
songs that are
suited for him.
Today, the music
seems made many
times just to show
the high notes of a
singer. This
underrate the low
notes and overrates
the vocal range
importance. It's
like: "you have at
least 3 octaves, so
you are a
spectacular singer,
if you have just 2
octaves you aren't a
spectacular singer,
even tough is
very far from be a
bad vocal range, it's still a good vocal range".
Personally, I believe
that baritone voices
are better, at least
in the subject about
beautiful voices,
than tenor voices.
Unhappily, the only
baritones that really
are famous, legends
and big in pop
music that I know
are Elvis Presley
and Frank Sinatra.
There are other
great baritones, like
Nat King Cole, but
far from achieve
fame even today so
big like the tenors
that dominat
popular music
almost alone in
decades.

I would like much that everybody that votes in the poll explain the vote in this topic.

I love both equally, pretty much.

I'd kill for a Baritone in pop music right now though, too dominated by Bieber-esque nasal tenors that really can't sing.
