Films of the 1980s: 1986 (2017 edition)

Post by Petri »

The rules:

You can post a list of anywhere between 1 and 20 films (or more, but only 20 will be counted) from the period we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the IMDb list and the top 15 of each period will go on to the final top 150. The deadline is 15th of July. If you haven't voted for your favorite movies of 1985 there's is still two weeks left to do it.

The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50
2. 40
3. 35
4. 30
5. 25
6. 20
7. 18
8. 16
9. 14
10. 12
11. 10
12. 9
13. 8
14. 7
15. 6
16. 5
17. 4
18. 3
19. 2
20. 1

However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.

Here are some lists to remind you of the films released in 1986:

IMDb
RYM
Films101
RottenTomatoes

If you vote for 4 movies or less, this is the adjusted scores:
4 votes
1. Movie 40 p
2. 35 p
3. 30 p
4. 25 p

3 votes
1. Movie 35 p
2. 30 p
3. 25 p

2 votes
1. Movie 30 p
2. 25 p

1 vote
1. Movie 25 p

Edited. Added the rankings of the last round. There was also an error. I had counted Gillingham's points twice and didn't count Rcoky Raccoon's points at all. This changes the results: Hoosiers qualifies and Le déclin de l'empire américain [The Decline of the American Empire] misses the final (Gillingham and Michel were the only ones who voted that.) Sorry for the error.

Petri, could you maybe also add the rankings of last time if it's not too much work? Always interesting.
Thanks a lot anyway.

Added. Glad to hear you find them interesting (me too).

Thanks for noticing that. I had counted Gillingham's points twice instead of yours.

There are changes in the results (Hoosiers in, Le déclin de l'empire américain [The Decline of the American Empire] out). Sorry for the mistake.

Yeah that's pity. SiP is my #1 of the year and BB was also pretty high on my list.

By the way. I borrowed Manon des Sources (Manon of the Spring) from the library (they don't have Jean de Florette). Should I watch JdF before Manon or does it matter if I had not seen it?

It's better to watch them in the right order if possible. Manon takes place more than ten years later, but it builds upon the events of the first part. Emmanuelle Béart's character is already present as a little girl in Jean de Florette.

Thanks. I bought Jean de Florette DVD. Going to watch them both soon.
