14. Bob Dylan - Here Comes Santa Claus
15. Bob Dylan - I'll Be Home for Christmas

I don't feel much connection with other people's lists for 2009.
All joking aside, here is my real list:

1. Joker - Digidesign
2. Bat for Lashes - Daniel
3. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
4. Pearl Jam - Just Breathe
5. Dirty Projectors - Stillness Is the Move
6. Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers
7. HEALTH - Die Slow
8. Bill Callahan - All Thoughts Are Prey to Some Beast
9. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll
10. The xx - Islands
11. La Roux - Bulletproof
12. Bill Callahan - Faith/Void
13. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero
14. Editors - Papillon
15. Pet Shop Boys - Love Etc.

This is the third decade poll I participate in and I'm sure this is by far the weakest year list I have made yet. Although I do really like all these songs it misses a real top favorite. Bring on the 2010's please.

I'm also sad to see that Bill Callahan's Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle is doing very bad here. That is one of the few real highlights of 2009 for me. I know he was never a high-profile artist, but since the album ranks #10 in the official ranking and it appeared recently in the Moderately Acclaimed albums list I hoped it would be on more people's minds.

I must admit, there was a small seed of doubt that you might actually be serious Rob.

"Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle" did rank #10 for 2009 in our recent all-time poll. On the other hand it only ranked #23 last time we did a 2009 year poll. A couple of high placements can make all the difference.

2010 was a great year, but the next year poll in this series will be 1990.

I know, it was more an expression like "After a year like 2009, it feels like it is time for a new decade to shake things up again". 2010 is indeed pretty good.

About 20 hours to go, it might be a bit longer as I'm a bit busy, but I'll try to get the decade poll rolling as soon as possible.

Still expecting a few lists - Nicolas, Phil, Toni ....

I would say 2010. We do count digital pre-releases if they are for promotional purposes or are fully sanctioned/legal. This one was leaked illegally.
Rateyourmusic lists it at 2009.

I felt that Intro by The xx was a very unconventional, out-there choice for a track from xx, but just found out that it is actually the most played track by the band on Spotify, by far. Odd.

200 million plays and other interesting things such as an almost 3 hr. loop in youtube getting 10 million views and others as pointed out by Billboard:

It's a shame While You Wait for the Others doesn't get more love. Personally I think it's even better than Two Weeks, and those are two clear standouts on a beloved album. The bridge makes it an all-time great for me. The layering of the different vocal parts as it builds to the last chorus is incredibly well done. The last 2 minutes of that song are magic. I'd put it in the top 150 of all time, let alone the top 150 of the last decade.

Well, for me the best song on the album is Southern Point, also with a fantastic bridge.

Anyway, I know people complained about that year, but at least it gives us the oddest set of albums to move to the next round. Not only there is a drone album and whatever Tarot Sport is, but Fever Ray, Bitte Orca and MPP aren't exactly your middle of the road rock album either. Heck, even XX and It's Blitz aren't for everyone.
The songs are a bit more "usual", but we still get Alice and Brandt Rhapsodie which, like them or not, really stand out in the final list.

I think my top 3 all fell within 10 points of making to the wildcard round so it could have been even better but I'll take it.

I remembered this comment and figured I’d shed some more light on it. I went to the World Fencing Championships in Budapest last month and am currently at the World Judo Championships in Tokyo. Both venues have played this song more than any other, right before athletes are about to compete, or in other breaks. I’ve heard it plenty in the U.S. too, so it seems to have been embraced by a decent portion of the globe.

As someone who never attends sports events or even watches them on television that might go a long way to explain why I missed the impact. I've become fond of the track since then though.
