Hard to argue with a lot of these picks. Surprised "Pedestrian at Best" is so low. Unsurprised "Alright" is their SOTY, though I wonder if it would be had it not been for all the worldly strife they mention in the blurb. Not my favorite song off TPAB, but a great song nonetheless. If Kendrick wins AOTY, he'll be the first artist to win AOTY twice from Pitchfork, and the first artist since Animal Collective in 2009 to win SOTY and AOTY for the same year.

D'Angelo could take the album of the year from him. Pitchfork had 2 songs from Black Messiah, so he is most definitely in contention.

Perhaps. But remember that under the same circumstances, Beyonce's album was not included on Pitchfork's 2014 album list.rohailashraf1 wrote:D'Angelo could take the album of the year from him. Pitchfork had 2 songs from Black Messiah, so he is most definitely in contention.

Re: EOY 2015 - Pitchfork (USA)
The only things I can see stopping Kendrick Lamar being No. 1 album are:
- They decide as he's won it before someone else should this time
- They decide 'to hell with it' this time round and include D'Angelo in the albums list
I think it's unlikely though (even if the latter happens, it might not be ranked No. 1), and it will probably be Kendrick.

Re: EOY 2015 - Pitchfork (USA)
Very surprised by how low Sleater-Kinney and D'Angelo are.
Baroness win the prize for highest score (8.5) with no placing or Honourable Mention. The only other two BNMs who didn't make the list were both EPs (Nao and Aphex Twin)

Re: EOY 2015 - Pitchfork (USA)
Stunned at Vince Staples at number four. I didn't think top ten was out of the question but to see that it bested two of the 9.3s is remarkable. Perhaps what is more stunning to me, though, is Sufjan's "low" placement at sixth. The review for C&L stated it was his best album so I figured it would get number one or two.
