868. Queens of the Stone Age - Mexicola: 9. Love QOTSA and the early tracks are really super-heavy.
869. Prefab Sprout - Faron Young: 6. One of the better Prefab songs, but I never quite liked them in the first instance
870. Runt - Be Nice to Me: 4, sorry I cannot be. Just Meh.
871. Dragon - Speak No Evil: 7, actually quite a cool discovery
872. John Zorn – Latin Quarter - 7 - the album is in my top 1000

John Zorn – Latin Quarter: 8
The album is indeed great. So is this song. An appealing mixture between a cool movie track and something more avant-garde.

871. Dragon – Speak No Evil - 8
I'd been listening to a lot of Dragon when I sent in my list since I'd seen them live earlier that year (2019). Not as hot on it now but it's still a good track.
Also, I should note, the version on the playlist isn't actually the original version - I think the original has stronger vocals, but also more 80's production. Here's links:

872. John Zorn – Latin Quarter - 8
Sounds like every TV theme tune and also none of them. Surprised to enjoy it.

Ah, I didn't notice. This version isn't available on Spotify in The Netherlands. Nonetheless, I have added it to the playlist and added the YouTube-link to my original post.

Dragon - Speak No Evil: 7
A new rating based on the intended version. Extremely eighties, but it does work a little better in this form. And it a almost a minute shorter, like I wanted.

These New Puritans – Fragment Two: 7
I like the atmosphere in this one.

It is very much June, as it has gotten noticeably hotter and my brain is clearly melting. I'm opening a new topic.

I didn't see this post until now but I think the opposite- McCartney's not trying to emulate Burnette painstakingly; he roars along and makes the song a living, breathing entity, rather than a museum piece. I hadn't heard his version before but it beats Costello's version, I'd award both British remakes an 8 though. Cheers for sharing it!

McCartney's version attempts to use a fuzz sounding guitar like the Burnette, The Costello version does not.

Happened to be reading the thoroughly fascinating first installment of "The Beatles: All These Years" by Mark Lewisohn (Vol. 1: "Tune In") last night and by chance came upon a paragraph on page 287 describing the impact of 1957's Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n Roll Trio 10" on the band in early 1960: "became a most important and influential record for the group and was one of the very few albums John could abide all the way through without growing restless."

He then talks a bit about "Honey Hush" in particular, citing the "distorted guitar" and adding a few lines about the lyrical content (I'll refrain, but suffice to say it's an outstanding book and would encourage interested parties to check it out).

Incidentally, the other LP that they were into around the same time was Carl Perkins' Dance Album (came out late '59). George in particular devoured each solo note by note.

Thanks!
