Would there be any interest in an Overlooked Songs 4?

Post by BleuPanda »

It's been 2 years since I hosted the 2010s edition and the last full Overlooked Songs Tourney ended in April of 2018. Would people like me to run another? And, if so, is now an okay time to host? Not sure how people are feeling with forum projects.

I've never said no to a tournament yet and I don't intend to start now!

It could be useful to put this to a vote. It's only an idea, mind

I'll probably put up a nomination topic sometime this weekend. I need to figure out how to handle those (in the past, I had people nominate one a day to fill in the bracket but not sure how people felt about it)

What is the range that the nominations will come from? Will it be like previous instalments where the song must be ranked on AM (including bubblers) but outside the top 1000?

Yep, with a plan to also divide the bracket into ranges. So, division 1 will be 1001-2000, division 2 will be 2001-3000, and so on. This is why I want to do one nomination per day, since certain sections will fill up faster than others and I think it works better if people can see the list live.

I think I'll put up the nomination topic tomorrow morning. I will have these as the divisions with 16 songs each:
1001-2000
2001-3000
3001-4000
4001-5000
5001-6000
6001-8000
8001-10000
bubblers

...I would also consider cutting the 1001-2000 section and splitting 6001-8000 into two. I don't know how much extra attention things in the 1001-2000 range need.

The rules will be that each user can only nominate one song per division (unless they have already nominated something in each remaining division) and are limited to one song per artist so no one can flood this with their favorite band. Songs from the first three tourneys will not be allowed.
