I specifically voted for the SNL version, which contains an amazing saxophone part (by Terrace Martin(?)). Drake is missing though; if there was a way to combine the two versions, that would be the ultimate version.
Fan theory: when Kendrick says "Living my life in the margin, and that metaphor was proof," is that a reference to mathematician Fermat?

(Embedding YouTube videos on AM is one of life's great mysteries for me)
That's almost a different song, without Drake, the girl voice, much of the beats and an overall new jazz sound. For me it wouldn't change the grade. Both versions get a 6 for me. The SNL really gets something from being live and the jazz band is smooth (it's not as much a precursor to To Pimp a Butterfly's sound as it sounds on paper), but I feel the original has a stronger delivery and a very good production. Both versions miss something, that real spark that I find in the best of Kendrick Lamar. But it is a solid song either way.
So:
Kendrick Lamar - Poetic Justice: 6

Probably my least favorite track on GKMC, but being the worst track on one of my favorite albums doesn't mean said track is bad.

Next on the take is Schüttelbirne, who like Mileswide rated every song in the previous edition, but had no songs of his own participating. He has no less than 420 eligible songs, frequently from overlooked artists. Today though, not so much. At best you can say he brought the least-known song from a very familiar album.
13. David Bowie – It Ain’t Easy
Year: 1972
Album: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
Biggest Fan: Schüttelbirne (#357)

Another well known song. One of my least favorite songs (with Hang on to Yourself) from a fantastic album. The only song on The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust not written by Bowie himself. I do like the harpsichord in it.

Back to back weakest songs off two of my favorite albums - though Ziggy Stardust is especially a favorite because even its weakest moment is strong, as I'm on the fence between a 7 and 7.5 here. I'm actually increasingly of the opinion that the two signature tracks from Ziggy Stardust are a tiny bit overrated and the true strength of the album lies in its consistency.

You know, I never actually really paid any note to this song in particular. In a quiz of naming all Ziggy Stardust's songs I might have failed to mention it. But now, out of context and no longer surrounded by too many classics I finally am able to appreciate this as the very cool song it is!

Boring people putting song from acclaimed albums on their list!
Seriously, I was hoping for something more unknown so I could complain about the low grades.
"It Ain't Easy" is an underappreciated highlight on the album and a definite 10. The chorus is one my favorites.

It is the least best song on Ziggy, but it's up against ridiculously tough opposition! Velvet Goldmine, that was missed off the album, is much better, but having said that I still like it, and it does work well as a side 1 closer (back when sides were a thing!)

Bang Jan’s short list only brings four songs to the game, but like Flibie we get an actual unknown one today. Though people who played the last edition of Biggest Fan might recognize this band that was a spin-off of XTC.

The second worst song on Ziggy Stardust (after "Hang On To Yourself") is still quite good.
Poetic Justice: 8
The fifth worst song on GKMC (after "Sherane", "The Art of Peer Pressure", "Good Kid", and "Compton") is still very good.

The Dukes basically do sixties Beatlesque pop. It isn't all that original and would rank on the lower end of my 7's, but it does have a melody that keeps me going.

Re: Biggest Fan Songs - 2nd Edition
Just a fair warning in advance: today’s song is partially by a controversial artist (Ariel Pink) who has been cancelled by many, including the other participating artist (Weyes Blood), who has withdrawn the song (and its EP) from all streaming platforms. It is my personal believe that everybody is free to deal with such things as they see fit, so I do share it today. If there is any controversy around it, please remain civil.
The song comes from Phil’s list.

As always, I'm just rating the song based upon how I felt about it at the time. Everyone handles these situations differently. I usually just maintain my ratings for the music I've already heard, but I don't seek out any new music from artists once I know them to be reprehensible people.

I’ve been pretty good about listening to the songs, but seeing as I find Ariel Pink a terrible person and I’ve never heard this song before, I’m not going to rate it.
