I’ll give Gypsy Woman a 7.

Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless): 8
Although I didn't recognize the artist's name or the title, I immediately recognized the "laba-dee laba-dow"'s. This is one of those songs I remember mostly from early childhood, when the more accessible dance and particularly house music were much on Dutch mainstream radio. This is one has aged really well and has lost none of it's dance factor and definitely none of its fun.

Re: Biggest Fan Songs - 2nd Edition
Cryoshell, featuring Budapest Art Orchestra – Gravity Hurts I accidentally listened to the version with Brinck. Liked it quite a bit, would give that a 6. Then realized my error and listened to the orchestral. Sorry Whuntva, not my thing at all. 2
Anderson .Paak, featuring ScHoolboy Q – Am I Wrong? Smooth groove. Was nervous about the ScHoolboy Q feature because I haven't really synced with him yet but that didn't take away from it. Liked the horn bit near the coda. Going 7 on this.
Beck – Guess I’m Doing Fine It's right down the middle but I've struggled to connect to SEA CHANGE in general. 5
Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless) Have a feeling I'd appreciate it more in the middle of a beat-mixed club mix than I do on its own. 4

I like the instrumental breakdown just over halfway best.
Hadn't expected that I would know 4 out of the first 5 songs already. One of the reasons to participate in this 'game' is to discover new music. Oh well, I'm enjoying it anyway.

I liked the instrumental breakdown part, but the rest isn't doing enough to compete against the other version I love.

It's mixture of jazz, soul and rock sounds makes it sound very much of its time, but not necessarily in a bad way. The song has a special atmosphere that makes it a worthwhile cover.

I still find David Clayton Thomas' vocals inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable.
Clive Davis described his initial impression of Clayton-Thomas singing at the Café Au Go-Go: "He was staggering... a powerfully built singer who exuded an enormous earthy confidence. He jumped right out at you. I went with a small group of people, and we were electrified. He seemed so genuine, so in command of the lyric... a perfect combination of fire and emotion to go with the band’s somewhat cerebral appeal. I knew he would be a strong, strong figure.

I went back and forth on that one, the song is great but I hate that "ladadee laouda" part… remove it, or at least cut it short, and I'd bump the rating by 1 point

maverick470 has 2 other Courtney Barnett songs eligible for this game that I like better, but that's a very solid album top to bottom
