Hey, just wanted to let you know BleuPanda that I’m withdrawing from writing about Radiohead, I liked what I wrote but I don’t think we need three people doing it since I’ll probably just be repeating a lot of what the other two writers say.

Otherwise I’m almost done with all the other write-ups so I should be able to send those to you soon!

Just sent my write-ups to you BleuPanda, if there are some artists who still need write-ups in July before the poll I can try and write more if time permits.

Hey, Bleupanda, how long should my write-ups be? I mean, how many words per artist (more or less) are using the ones who sent them so far?

Once I know this as well, I might do something for A Tribe Called Quest. I would want to anyways, but it all depends on my free time, which I'm less sure of.

Just at a quick glance, most are landing in the 100-300 range, with ~200-250 seeming to be the sweet spot. But anything over 100 works!

Oh shoot, I was so busy I forgot.

But I do have a free day Friday. Is it okay if you hold it for just two more days and I PM them to you then?

If you want to write about artists who others have already claimed, go ahead. And while I have asked for the declared write-ups to be around 200 words, I think something extra in the 50-100 range for those artists who already have a claim would also work.

I think my plan for revealing the results will be with this schedule:
50/day for #500-251
25/day for #250-100
10/day for #100-1

For 21 total days.

As such, the 'deadline' for this is kind of nebulous. I would like write-ups to be in by the 15th. But, in the end, as long as I have them by the placement reveal of that artist, it is fine. So, I think an alternative deadline will be whenever #251 is revealed. There is always a chance some of these artists fall outside the top 250 this time around, but in that case...it might actually be awkward if they did have one.

If there is any artist who falls within the top 150 range without a write-up, I will probably directly message the biggest fan who has already written to see if they would be willing (or do it myself if they are reasonably high on my own list, which is part of why I have only claimed a small handful myself)

I have updated the first post. So, there are still quite a few artists without anything written. I shot a private message to hero, who has not been online in a couple months and claimed half a dozen - so if they don't respond, those artists may be up for grabs.

There's also the fact that some artists climbed into the top 150 range - though, the original goal was to make sure everyone in the top 100 had something written. I might just focus on getting that done, and some of those outside the top 100 simply have a bonus.

But, if you are willing to take on more and want me to check if you were a high voter of a new top 150 entrant, let me know and I will PM you (I don't want to spoil the new entrants in the thread)

I've sent a few through for the ones I feel are more likely to place among the bottom part of the top 150, if at all. I'm happy to write some for the ones I expect to place higher up and send those through as well. :)

I'm also happy to do some extra write-ups if I'm a top voter for a surprise top 150 entrant.

Sorry - I'll update the first post later but I wanted to get my new thoughts down here.

My main goal in requesting these write-ups is to make sure every artist in the top 100 has something. Thus, it's fine if some that fell out of that range don't end up having things, and there will be some unfortunate gaps in the 101-200 range.

I think I will take a small break in revealing the results once we get through #101. Then, I will make a post where I simply name all the remaining artists who still need a blurb and hope people help me quickly fill the gaps.

And, as always, even if someone else signed up for an artist, you can still write about them. There's at least one artist with three blurbs so far.

Uhh...if you don't want to be spoiled by artists who made our top 100, don't look at this post.

And, as always, if you want to write about any of the top 100, go ahead. I will happily include multiple blurbs.

Artists in need of write-ups - I am bolding the artists I do not feel comfortable trying to write about myself, so as long as we get the bolded covered, we should be good:
Arctic Monkeys
The Beach Boys
Beck
James Brown
The Cure
The Flaming Lips
Fleetwood Mac
The Kinks
John Lennon
Madonna
Bob Marley
Oasis
Queen
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Otis Redding
Vampire Weekend
Kanye West
The White Stripes
Wilco

Artists I am planning to cover (more a reminder to myself):
blur
Nick Cave
Daft Punk
Joy Division
Kendrick Lamar
LCD Soundsystem
Smashing Pumpkins
Sufjan Stevens

I'd be happy to collaborate on Madonna with someone more familiar with her 90s (and maybe 00s) output, or can provide some insight into just being there during her comeup. I'm mostly just familiar with her early-mid 80s stuff. I have some stuff written, but it's more history and influence than anything personal.

Last night I tried to do some write ups for several of the artists in bold and scrapped all of them, it would probably be best if someone who put them higher on their list wrote something…

I've submitted one for Queen. I wrote one today for Fleetwood Mac, and seem on pace to write one for The Kinks. For all the earlier write-ups I took on, I turned them in before I started taking classes again. I'm submerging again after these write-ups.

I suddenly need three more write-ups - one because simply no one had tackled it, the other two because someone left an obvious Wikipedia source tag in and a quick plagiarism check revealed most of their write-ups had included direct plagiarism (which, in addition to the obvious issue of passing off other people's writing as your own, also meant their write-ups largely consisted of dry biographies, one of which was over 600 words long and what I explicitly asked people not to do in the opening post). I could probably try to tackle these artists myself, but at such short notice and with a busy weekend planned, that might delay the results several days. Can anyone please help?

I need these artists covered:
The Cure
The Who

...yes, and as I said, I ran them through a plagiarism checker after noticing something was off and most of both were directly lifted from other sources. Like, entire sentences down to really specific adjective choices.

I found it interesting that Nina Hagen and The Nina Hagen Band are separate entries in the poll. I wonder if voters for Nina Hagen thought that they were voting for her music after 1982 or all of her music.
