Henrik, you have this album in 1971, but RYM has it released November 1970.

I'm sure Hymie would know for certain about a release date of this period but 'Night Train' by James Brown (and His Famous Flames) first appeared on James Brown Presents His Band and Five Other Great Artists, which seems to have been released in 1961, not 1962, if Allmusic and RYM are to be trusted.

The Auteurs track is called "Show Girl" instead of "Showgirl" according to every source I consulted (Wikipedia, Spotify, RYM, Discogs, Allmusic)

Discogs, RYM, Wikipedia and a Keith Moon biog I'm reading at the minute (Dear Boy by Tony Fletcher) tell me The Who's 'I Can't Explain' was released in 1965, not 1964.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
Discogs has 'High Flying Bird' by Judy Henske as a single from 1963, a shame really since I'd planned to put it and her subsequent double-sided single on my 1964 songs ballot.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
As I've said before elsewhere on the forum, Johnny Cash originally recorded 'Cocaine Blues' as 'Transfusion Blues', which appeared on 1960's Now There Was a Song!, the only change to the lyrics being the first word of the title.

The 1968 entry for Toots and the Maytals should be '54-46, That's My Number'. The more internationally famous version released a year later under the title on AM (viz. '54-46 (Was My Number)') is a re-recording but essentially an adaptation of the original song.

'One Love' by The Wailers was first released way back in 1965, the 1977 re-recording doesn't change any of the lyrics. The only words that are added are 'People Get Ready' to the title to avoid waiving copyright law that wasn't in existence in Jamaica upon the original's release.

I found the "invisible list". It's Musikexpress (Germany) - The 100 Best Albums 1969-2009 (2009).
Also, and you're probably aware of this, Henrik, a lot of the hyperlinks in the All critics' list section are dead/broken. Most are probably not easily fixable, but some are. For example, Juice (Germany) - Top German Albums of the 2010s (2019) and Juice (Germany) - Top International Albums of the 2010s (2019) both link to http://0.0.0.0/. Re: Errors in the 2020 update
The listing of Pazz & Jop ranks for albums seems inconsistent across the site. The cutoff set for 2008 onward is for the Top 100 albums to have their ranks noted - yet from 1998 to 2007 only the Top 50 albums have their ranks noted (or, ostensibly the Top 50: some quick checking detected some oddities, such as 2000 top 50 finishers Tanto Tempo [#43] and The Moon & Antarctica [#49] not having their respective ranks noted, despite other albums within the 41-50 range for that year having theirs noted; and all 3 albums that tied for #50 in 2004 not having that rank noted in their pages).
Singles, on the other hand, do seem to have a consistent cutoff of Top 100 across all years (for the years when those ranks were published, of course). As such it does seem strange that the same isn't followed for albums.
(For reference, links to the full P&J polls for those years: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
I am not sure if this is an error but it seems rather odd to me that Original Dixieland Jazz Band's Tiger Rag (2455) is ranked lower than their Livery Stable Blues (2294). Both recordings appear on 6 lists, but amongst Tiger Rag's appearances are both the RIAA's "songs of the century" and the National Recording Registry, and it is also ranked much higher on Steve Sullivan's list. Furthermore Tiger Rag has historically always been ranked on acclaimedmusic, but LSB only entered in the 2018 update (where it entered just a couple dozen spots above Tiger Rag).

Ethel Merman's "I Got Rhythm" seems to be quite an odd entry. I do not doubt that she put on a good show for Girl Crazy. But as far as I can find she never recorded the song until a 1949 LP. Even though the 2 of the 3 sources I could check explicitly mention 1930 as the year of the acclaimed version.

P.S. Ethel Waters did record a very good rendition of the song in November 1930. Though that should not have caused (much) confusion beyond their similar names.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
Thanks for posting this. I’ve been wondering the same thing. Per Wikipedia (I think I saw if there), Ethel Merman performed the song in the original Broadway cast of “Girl Crazy” in 1930 and became an overnight sensation for it, performed encore after encore of it while she was in the show. However, no recording of the musical was made at the time (there was a subsequent recording but not with her). It’s not clear to me if the “acclaim” she enjoys from this song is from a later recording or if her original performance has been conflated with later recordings that she made well after she was no longer performing onstage.BobPatience wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 7:54 am http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/song/S4868.htm

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
I noticed an inconsistency (unless there’s an explanation). Nancy Sinatra gets credit for her recordings with Lee Hazlewood under both her own entry and her entry with Hazlewood. However, the same thing doesn’t apply for all artists. For example, Chaka Khan does not get credit for the music she recorded with Rufus under her own entry. The second approach makes more sense to me.
