1. Source, please?
2. Not the right board, these need to be posted in the critics' lists board, and more specifically in the 2017 EOY board which has not yet been created.
3. Holy crap, so these are really already starting???
4. Perfect #1.
5. And yeah, hello man

1) Educated guess
2) I know, I can't post it somewhere that doesn't exist. I'm sure this thread can be moved when needed. I didn't want to bury it in Critic's list yet.
3) Yes, this is about on par for Uncut's release
4) I was wondering if they might give it to FJM
5) It's nice to pop in.

As for the source, I'm sorry but we always need to post a link here when posting a list

I have created a EOY 2017 forum and will put a copy of this topic there.
Thanks Mitchell!

Re: Uncut's Top 75 albums of 2017
From a quick look, neither this nor Rough Trade seem to have Brand New's 'Science Fiction' despite high ratings from reviews (#16 in MCCCh). Wonder if they've taken it out after the recent allegations. Was competing for my AOTY, now thinking of taking out completely myself.
Re: Uncut's Top 75 albums of 2017
Way too early for this to be starting, but I guess I say that every year. If there was any doubt, clues on Uncut's blog page (e.g., a reference to half of the top 30 being created at least in part by female artists) prove that this is indeed the legitimate list. Thanks for posting it so quickly, Mitchell. One note: while we may indeed be hungry for the riff raff, the artist at #10 actually goes by Hurray for the Riff Raff.
As for the Brand New comment: the album's initial reception and high Mega-Critic ranking aside, the band has never been a critics' darling, as its very minimal presence on Acclaimed Music (three bubbling-under songs) indicates, despite its extremely passionate fanbase. It's entirely possible that Science Fiction might not have done well on the EOY charts even without the troubling allegations against Jesse Lacey, although those certainly don't help.

Re: Uncut's Top 75 albums of 2017
Noted & it's obviously too early to say, and individual critical acclaim at the time of release doesn't always translate to cumulative year-end lists, & because it was 2nd half of year we'll not be able to compare any 'so far' lists, but it does appear to be have been more critically acclaimed than any previous album on a like for like basis: 88 on metacritic, previous best 78.Harold wrote:As for the Brand New comment: the album's initial reception and high Mega-Critic ranking aside, the band has never been a critics' darling, as its very minimal presence on Acclaimed Music (three bubbling-under songs) indicates, despite its extremely passionate fanbase. Anyway the issue is more that a good album and back catalogue somewhat tainted, though that is nothing compared to the impact on the victims.
Thanks Harold for taking on again.
