Re: MOBO nominations (UK)
We haven't ever included MOBO before, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be considered eligible. It would also be great if someone could make a thread listing the results of previous years.
Splish splash, I was raking in the cash
Re: MOBO nominations (UK)
It's a bit weird how it's based on skin colour, though.
Re: MOBO nominations (UK)
It really isn't, I'm sure Adele and Sam Smith have both won MOBOs.

Music of Black Origin doesn't exclude white acts from winning.

How is it music of black origin?charliepanayi wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 9:16 amMusic of Black Origin doesn't exclude white acts from winning.
Re: MOBO nominations (UK)
The name may be a bit awkward, but R&B, jazz, blues, etc. are all genres created by and largely associated with Black artists, hence "Music of Black Origin." Surely you've heard the term "Black music" before, correct? Non-Black artists often make music in these genres, so they're eligible for the awards. Not really that hard to understand, unless you're being deliberately obtuse.
Re: MOBO nominations (UK)
So the song of the year is the one with the white guy as a feature- I can't tell if that's irony but it is what most of the listening British public would associate with UK rap and its offshoots this year. It's a worthy winner as well as being popular...(mmm-hmm!)
