I like this list a lot. They really made an effort to cover different eras of jazz music over time with the quintessential representatives. There are quite a few compilations here, but that's only natural for people like Armstrong or Parker.

I have two issues:
- Not a single album from the 2010s ended up on the list and the two 2000s albums are on places 100 and 99. There's a real anti-recency bias going on which I do not approve of.
- They couldn't make place for one female band leader? They only included female singers but no female instrumentalists, even though Alice Coltrane or Carla Bley wouldn't be large stretches.

There's some artists where I would make other selections (Cecil Taylor, Keith Jarrett, Ornette Coleman, Anthony Braxton, Archie Shepp), but I understand why they made the selections they did and am fine with them. Of course there's some favorites missing (Prince Lasha, Bobby Hutcherson, Jeanne Lee, Don Ellis, Sam Rivers, Horace Tapscott, ...) but you can't find everyone into a Top 100.

Well that explains a lot. Just not why they would re-publish an old list with a new date...

Yeah. It's not good to mention that was a list from 2006. They are recycling.

FYI I browsed this list in a shop and the recent publication is an updated list - I found this article when I was looking for the list online, can't actually find it anywhere but it did have Sons of Kemet - Burn (2013) somewhere in the later positions. Top 3 was the same. Don't have the full list though obviously!

I think it's better to have the tag "some lists included on AM" or any that remembers that only one version have been included.
