Cleveland.com (USA) - Every No. 1 Song of the 1970s Ranked from Worst to Best (2021)

Lists by single critics or musicians, published in magazines or on websites, have lower priority. The amount of such lists would be impossible to handle.
(However, priority is given to single author lists from books, very famous music critics and artists with albums or songs ranked on Acclaimed Music. Single author lists are also more likely to get priority if they are not limited to a genre or artist.)

The only reason I didn't make the byline "Troy L. Smith, Cleveland.com" is because I never remembered to do it for the rest and it's a lot of work to go back and do it for every single list of his we already posted...but suffice to say, if it's from Cleveland.com, it's probably him.

(The "Die already!" joke about "Seasons in the Sun" is 100% a lift from Dave Barry. Troy, you ol' rascal. I'll try not to take it personally that you put "The Night Chicago Died" over "Nothing from Nothing," which made me physically recoil when I saw it.)

Also, I remember years ago I mused about a "reverse AM" where we aggregated lists and polls of the worst songs of all time to see which came out on top (bottom?). Supposing we'd count those "every song ranked" lists, but just do the reverse of AM? So in this case, the #1 song would be "least-bad," and Disco Duck would be weighted heaviest as "most bad." I dunno. Just a silly thought. (I'd have said "Havin' My Baby" personally).

Not necessarily. We’ve taken lists from resident music critics for non-music publications before. And anyway, I’m only posting lists at the moment that I’m mostly certain are eligible, so while I appreciate the feedback, I’ll literally say when I start posting lists I’m less sure of.
