Love of the Common People is a 5. It's a shame he wasn't the most interesting musical Paul Young of the '80s.

Today we get the third appearance by Arcade Fire here and the first from andy1010’s list. With this third song they join Prince, Jeff Tweedy, Rod Stewart and John Lennon for most appearing artist. Though it should be said that Prince and Arcade Fire are the only ones to get there with just one act, whereas Tweedy, Stewart en Lennon needed multiple projects.

366. Arcade Fire – The Well and the Lighthouse
Year: 2007
Album: Neon Bible
Biggest Fan: andy1010 (#927)

Jackson Browne – Rock Me On the Water: 8
I don't know a whole lot of Jackson Browne songs, but his songs have a tendency to be growers, something I learned here to after four listens.

Paul Young – Love of the Common People: 7
I perhaps wouldn't like this as much if I heard it for the first time this day, but I've always known this and there is a cosy, Christmas-like vibe with a dash of nostalgia mixed in for me with this one, so I do end up liking it, even while acknowledging it mawkishness, as well as it's odd African flavour (though I just read it is supposed to be ska/ reggae). Perhaps I should try one of the many other versions for comparison.

Arcade Fire – The Well and the Lighthouse: 7
Neon Bible may not be the best album by Arcade Fire (though I'd rank it third) and this song may not be a go-to track from it, but I think that album has the best singing by Win Butler and this song is a good example.

Arcade Fire – The Well and the Lighthouse: 9.5

The bridge/outro is one of their best (starting with "Resurrected"). I love the arpeggiating guitars, the violins, and Win's delivery of "The Lions and the Lambs Ain't Sleeping Yet," which combine for one of the album's most climactic moments, before Regine's harmony on his third repetition of that line creates a more uneasy tone, which fits the message of the song.

365. Paul Young – Love of the Common People 4 (“Come Back and Stay”, from the same album, would be a strong 9.)
366. Arcade Fire – The Well and the Lighthouse 6 (And this album features multiple 10s for me.)

The Corrs – Summer Sunshine: 6
A group I almost forgot about, but heard a quite a lot of during my early teenage years. This was because my normally Céline Dion obsessed sister allowed only one artist to be played, which was The Corrs. Frankly, I never heard her give any other reason than that Andrea Corr was the most beautiful woman on Earth, but I gladly accepted this, as she had a way of forcing her Céline Dion on us in a way that went beyond the reasonable for me.
That's all in the past. I hardly heard any The Corrs since she moved out in 2005 or so. This must be a later track of that period in my life. Like usual with The Corrs they are pleasant to the ears, but there isn't much to it in the end. The Summer vibe works well enough, but there is a reason I didn't particularly think about this in 18 years and that it didn't become a standard.

After yesterday’s Summer nonsense, I hoped that Fred would give us something more season-appropriate. He is the guy who added This Christmas and Clouds to this game after all. But no, he adds more sunshine to the line-up. 10 minutes of it!

Very spacey stuff, with a pleasant vibe. It never bores, but I also just miss that something to really take it over the edge.

Just looked it up... it was 1999, which I suppose was mid-period Stones at this point :D

I don't know. It's definitely one of Wray's more famous songs, but I also suspect Wray doesn't get listened to that all that much anymore. The song isn't ranked on AM either, not even bubblin'.

Adam Green is perhaps best known and forgotten for a song about a half-forgotten cultural figure of the 2000’s, Jessica Simpson. Now he has a song about a half-forgotten (?) cultural icon of the 1990’s. Krurze remembers at least.

A nice surprise. Short and to the point, great rhythm and good lyrics. The only thing is that I feel like it very much like another song I know, but I can't place it.

This is still a very enjoyable song. But, after many listens over the past 50 years I find that it can drag a bit.
