Not wishing to waste any time in the new year, TSPDT has already posted their annual update of The 1,000 Greatest Films list! (https://www.theyshootpictures.com/)

This is obviously a much less momentous update than last year's Sight & Sound-driven game-changer, with only 12 new entries (the highest of which, I'm happy to report, is Martin Scorsese's brilliant After Hours, entering the list for the first time at #876).

Always amusing when the update is mostly just undoing a few stray things from the previous update. Not all that much wholly new to the list this year, expect something similar in the 21st century update (aside from the 2022/2023 additions)

Can you tell me why updates often focus on undoing previous changes instead of bringing new features?

It's always funny when an update mostly just undoes a few things that were wrong with the last version. Aside from the changes for 2022 and 2023, there isn't that much new on the list this year. You can expect the 21st century update to be similar.
