The article I saw says he died from "a short illness." I guess it doesn't matter what it was. (I still don't know what happened to Mark Lanegan.) Music labels fail Television more than most acts. I wouldn't call them punk. Post-punk? (But in 1977?) Regardless, they were among the great late '70s CBGB acts. As a teenager, I spent one summer working at a grocery store, rounding up carts outside in the 100+ degree weather (I couldn't manage that now), singing Marquee Moon songs to myself. What a weird thing to have treasured memories about, but I guess music can do that to you.

Truly a loss! Tom Verlaine wrote an album that had more impact than many bands manage with entire careers. Definitely will be missed, gonna have to give Marquee Moon a listen soon

Marquee Moon, both album and song, where somewhat important to me in learning to get a deeper appreciation for guitars and instrumental interplay. Beautiful stuff!
Rest in peace.
