Pete Townshend – Let My Love Open the Door: 4
Continuing on yesterday's theme of rockers falling off: how did Pete Townshend go from Baba O'Riley to this tacky pseudo-reggae in the span of 10 years? And why on earth is this of all songs the one he wanted to evoke Jesus with?
I mean, I guess in contrast with Van Halen it is somewhat catchy, but to me in a annoying way.

Not a fan of The Who, rather that than this though. 4.5 seems to be my favorite score this past week, unfortunately.

Hey, today’s artist’s name alliterates with the song title. Anyway, Sweepstakes Ron keeps things small. He has support with critics who rank this track at 4057 on AM.

938. Lykke Li – Little Bit
Year: 2007

It has some charm, but it also overstays its welcome at only four and a half minutes.

For the second day in a row Acclaimed Music users prove they can appreciate the little things. Styrofoamboots is the second person here to give us a song by The Beths.
Also, I want to put this out here: going hiking on Styrofoam boots is not a particularly good idea.

I considered this one for my top 1000 this time around. Now I'm sorry I didn't put it in there. Great interplay between dead pan and despair in the vocals and the drums near the end are just great.

Holden opened up his eyes and saw the sign.
If I remember correctly this song was once the last ranking entry in the AM top 10,000 (or 6,000). It is now bubblin’ under.

I'm a bit surprised by the first minute of this song, especially the first couple of seconds. There's no natural progression from that bit to the rest of the song. Which I don't mind, but didn't see that coming with the music Petty makes. It might make more sense in the context of the album?

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers – Louisiana Rain: 7
Yeah, that first minute is baffling, especially since it seems like a separate song (or more a strangely space-like interlude) with an actual pause before the song proper begins. I don't really count it in my rating. This is one of those many Tom Petty songs that I find very easy to like, but lacks just that little something to carry it over the edge into greatness.

As we are nearing the end of the second edition of Biggest Fan it is only right that we reserve one last dance for Krurze.

Eurythmics – Would I Lie to You?

6

This album wasn’t bad, but the problem was Eurythmics weren’t quite great anymore (except for maybe the song that sounded like it was based off the “Tears of a Clown” riff, “It's Alright [Baby's Coming Back]).”

I’ll avoid the easy and stupid joke on today’s song title and instead note that this is third time Michael Jackson appears on Biggest Fan 2nd Edition. All entries came from Renan’s list.

Kacey Musgraves – Late to the Party: 7
A light 7. I don't find Kacey Musgraves too compelling most of the time, but this love song is quite cute.

Eurythmics – Would I Lie to You?: 6
Kind of memorable chorus, but not their most engaging song otherwise.

Michael Jackson – In the Closet: 6
The best of Renan's Michael Jackson picks. Far from great, but I can actually sit this one out without agony. It helps that it is not a ballad.

I didn’t listen to all of Dangerous until MJ passed. It didn’t hold up for album listening, but it had several singles like this that were pretty cool.
