Anyone have this book: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=pqt ... it&f=false ?

As the title says it is a book dedicated to power pop and it's register says it contains a list of the 200 greatest power pop albums. There are also several other lists included, like the top 20 Cheap Trick songs. I guess this might be eligible, if we can find the complete lists?

There are some compilations there. Oddly, some of these are not really compilations, but bundled CD-releases. Apparently as a way to cheat his way out of the writer's one album per artist rule. I guess these should still count, so both #1 Record and Radio City for example should get a #2 vote. Agree?

It's an interesting list of a genre I don't particularly listen much to. Most names are unfamiliar actually and I suspect most albums are not on AM yet. While transcribing this I listened to the top album and I have to admit that it is good fun.

Quick note - The Beat, whose 1979 s/t album is #10 on the list, is an L.A. group, not the UK ska-revival band from the same era. The former band's existence is the reason Dave Wakeling, Ranking Roger and company were known on these shores as The English Beat.

John M. Borack is a music journalist and musician from Southern California.
